Wagram Wastewater Treatment Center Begins Operations, Expanding Capacity
New 2.5 million-gallon-per-day facility expands capacity for Etna Township and Pataskala
LICKING COUNTY, Ohio — The Licking Regional Water District announced today that the new Wagram Wastewater Treatment Center is operational, significantly expanding wastewater treatment capacity to support continued residential and commercial growth in Etna Township and the City of Pataskala.
Located on National Road in Etna Township, the approximately $85 million facility can process up to 2.5 million gallons of wastewater per day. The new treatment center, together with sewer system line upgrades completed as part of the project, will increase the amount of wastewater that can be conveyed and treated across LRWD’s system.
“The Wagram Wastewater Treatment Center represents a major investment in the infrastructure needed to serve this region for decades to come,” said LRWD Executive Director Jim Roberts. “With the new plant operational, we have significantly increased our ability to serve residents and businesses in Etna Township and Pataskala while creating additional capacity for future growth.”
The Wagram project was developed in response to increasing wastewater demands in southwestern Licking County. Residential and commercial development has placed additional pressure on existing infrastructure, particularly in Etna Township and Pataskala. The new facility will help relieve wastewater treatment capacity constraints in those communities and provide additional infrastructure to support economic development, including continued growth around Pataskala Corporate Park and Etna Corporate Park.
In addition to construction of the Wagram facility, LRWD has undertaken sewer line upgrades designed to convey additional wastewater flows to both the new Wagram center and the district’s existing treatment facility on Gale Road. Together, the improvements provide greater system capacity and operational flexibility.
“This project is about more than adding treatment capacity,” Roberts said. “It is about making sure the infrastructure is in place to support homes, businesses and jobs while protecting public health and the environment. Responsible growth requires long-term planning, and Wagram is an important part of that effort.”
The Wagram Wastewater Treatment Center is part of LRWD’s broader investment in regional water and wastewater infrastructure. The district continues to work with local governments and community partners to plan and construct infrastructure that meets current needs while preparing for future demand.
